A pretrial hearing is ahead in one of several contraband cases now underway in Lyon County District Court.
On Monday, Sha’Dale N’Jau was set for a pretrial at 9:30 am May 23. N’Jau may learn potential trial start dates at that hearing.
N’Jau is accused of trafficking a black earbud case containing a clear plastic baggie with a crystalline substance inside the bag into the Lyon County Jail back in February.
Separately, Norwin Alexis Matey-Matey is charged with bringing cocaine into an unspecified correctional or care facility after an alleged incident in late March. He’s also accused of cocaine possession, driving under the influence and driving without a license. A hearing is tentatively set for May 10.
Also, Brian L Smith is awaiting trial as part of his contraband case. Smith is charged with one count of possessing marijuana while in the Lyon County Jail as part of an alleged incident in mid-January. He has a separate possession charge connected to a prior possession conviction nine years ago in Cowley County. A hearing May 17 could set the trial start date, currently listed as either May 22, June 20 or July 10.
