Two separate cases alleging various forms of child abuse have hearings in Lyon County District Court on Thursday.
Dennis Ray Torrence has a pretrial hearing at 8:30 am before Judge Laura Miser. Torrence is accused of two counts of rape and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties, both sets of charges allegedly involving a child under the age of 14. Authorities say there were at least two incidents in late January that led to the charges.
Meanwhile, Marisela Castillo Tovar faces one count of felony child abuse after allegedly “causing disfigurement” as part of an alleged incident last year. Tovar also has an alternate felony child abuse count in this case.
Tovar has a pretrial hearing at 8:30 am before Judge Laura Miser.
In other court matters, a drug distribution suspect has a preliminary hearing Thursday afternoon.
Lucas Torrens is accused of distributing methamphetamine, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia, after an alleed incident late last month. The hearing is at 2:30 pm before Judge Laura Miser.
