The Emporia State softball team split a doubleheader with Pittsburg State Friday.
Pitt State won the first game 16-6. Pittsburg State scored 7 runs in the 2nd inning and 8 runs in the 3rd to put the game out of reach.
Emporia State bounced back to win the 2nd game 13-8. The Lady Hornets scored 9 runs in the 3rd inning. Sophia Rockhold led off the inning with a home run. Alexis Dial drove in 3 runs with a double. Ari Cordova was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. Haley Garnett drove in 2 runs.
Saturday Emporia State plays Missouri Southern in Joplin. Southern is in 1st place in the MIAA standings.
Southern swept a doubleheader from Washburn Friday.
The Lady Hornets take a record of 28-16, 8-8 in the MIAA into the doubleheader.
They are tied for 7th place in the MIAA standings.
