Food, drink and good times were available for all attending The Taste on Saturday night.
The event at White Auditorium was once again sold out, meaning an ongoing return to normal after COVID-related adjustments. Emporia Main Street Director Casey Woods says the event has grown from an aspirational event, where local businesses like Radius Brewing and Trolley House were desired but not established, to a destinational event — where businesses from across Kansas reach out to be showcased.
Over 20 businesses from across the state were indeed showcased Saturday. Besides giving residents a chance to sample food and drink from across Kansas and vendors a chance to grow their reach, Woods says The Taste is big for Main Street because it’s one of the organization’s largest annual fundraisers and proceeds are invested into other Main Street projects, such as public events, business supports and building improvements. Woods says the revenue from The Taste “circulates through the community several times over.”
Speaking of events, Main Street is now deep into planning for other spring and summer activities, including the Glass Blown Open Block Party and Food Truck Festival on April 29, the Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow Cinco de Mayo Festival on May 6, the Unbound Gravel Finish Line Celebration on June 3 and the Dynamic Discs Open Block Party and Food Truck Festival on June 17.
