Details are pending after a trauma incident at an Emporia manufacturing plant.
Emporia Fire and EMS were toned out to Hopkins Manufacturing, 428 Peyton, after a reported amputation. Neither Emporia Fire nor Hopkins management are confirming whether any body parts were amputated, but Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Conley says one man was taken to Newman Regional Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
Hopkins President CEO Brad Kraft says the injured person was a company employee. His name is not being released.
Conley says quick, proper action by Hopkins’ on-site medical team prevented the situation from being worse for the employee. Kraft says the company’s safety team is investigating the incident.

Emporia Fire has taken one person to Newman Regional Health after a reported trauma incident.
Emporia Fire/EMS was called to Hopkins Manufacturing, 428 Peyton, around noon for the incident. Hopkins President and CEO Brad Kraft says an employee was hurt and taken to the hospitalized with unspecified but apparetnly non-life-threatening injuries. The employee, who is not being named, was conscious and alert when he was taken to the hospital.
Kraft says the company’s safety team is investigating and the company will act accordingly, based on the results of the investigation.
