Storms cut short Safe Kids Emporia’s first child seat safety check event of the year Saturday.
Still, Emporia Police Officer Dominick Vortherms says the event at Fire Station 2, 15th and Industrial, went smoothly and was designed to give parents and guardians peace of mind while they drive.
Part of the reason behind the check lanes is because there are so many options for child seats — and the occasional to regular times where child seat instructions don’t follow the guidance from vehicle owner’s manuals.
Safe Kids Emporia hasn’t announced the next date for its next child seat safety check lane. Residents who missed Saturday’s event can also call the Lyon County Emergency Communications non-emergency line at 620-343-4225 to set up a safety check.
