Tax day is here and that means there is likely to be a lot of traffic at local post offices Tuesday.
As such, the United States Postal Service is offering some last-minute reminders to those who may be waiting until the last minute to mail their tax information. USPS Strategic Communications Specialist Mark Inglett says it is important to be diligent with your tax documents and reminds residents to double they have everything they need before entering the post office.
Inglett says The USPS will not be extending hours to accommodate the traffic so the sooner you can get in the better. He adds residents have more options than one for dropping off their mail including using collection boxes.
Tuesday is the deadline for filing both returns and extension requests. Those who fail to do so could face a penalty of five percent of the unpaid tax per month, plus interest.
