This Saturday, Emporia will be Partying for the Planet.
Kicking the day off from 10 a.m. to noon, the Profit Aquatic Research and Outreach Center (PAROC), will host an Earth Day celebration featuring crafts, education stations, nature walks, and a plant sale hosted by ESU students. Daphne Mayes with the Profit Aquatic Research and Outreach Center says that collaborating with different groups around town to create this event has been an incredible experience.
Later on, at 1 p.m. residents may visit the David Traylor Zoo to participate in a variety of conservation and education-based opportunities lasting until 3:00. Kelli Proehl, education coordinator with the David Traylor Zoo, says that they are excited about the variety of activities.
