The Emporia High softball team hosts Manhattan. It’s the Lady Spartans’ first home games of the season after playing their first 10 games away from home.
Freshman Marley Sewell says the Lady Spartans are excited to play at home.
First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Peter Pan Park. Emporia High takes a 1-9 record into the twinbill.
The Emporia High boys tennis team will be hosting an eight-team tournament. It’s the first of two tournaments this weekend for the Spartans. On Saturday, they’ll travel to Valley Center.
Junior Jacob Simons will be playing doubles with Carlos Bautista.
Mats Goerres will be playing singles.
Matches get underway at 3 p.m. at the Emporia High tennis courts.
The Emporia High baseball team travels to Manhattan.

Junior Taylor Cunningham will be competing in the 50 free, 500 free, and part of the 200 medley and 400 free relays.
The Emporia High track and field teams travel to Lawrence for the Free State Barrier Breakers.
Sophomore Daghyn True will be running the 1,600m, 800m, and the 4×400 relay.
Junior Sofia Rulvacaba will be running in the 4x800m relay and the 800m. She’s coming off a fifth place finish at the KU Relays in the 2,000m steeplechase.
The Emporia High boys golf team travels to Salina for the Salina South Invitational.
Sophomore Will Walker is coming off a third-place finish at Seaman on Wednesday.
The tournament will be played at Salina Municipal Golf Course.
