Trial will not be starting in connection to an Emporia shooting case next week — or next month, for that matter.
Instead of setting the stage for trial, a status hearing Wednesday in the case against Shedrick Williams led to a pretrial hearing now on the docket for July 13 at Williams’ request. Both the previous trial settings, one set to start Monday and the other for a May 1 start, have been canceled.
Williams is charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated battery, and burglary after Harold Stewart was shot at Emporia’s Eastgate Apartment complex this past July.
