Emporia Spanish Speakers will inaugurate a new bilingual event for members of the Hispanic and Latino community to explore the outdoor spaces of Emporia this Saturday.
The Vamos a Explorar event is an initiative program focused on providing members of the Hispanic and Latino community with different activities they can enjoy outdoors to release stress and have better health.
Director of Visit Emporia and Founder of Emporia Spanish Speakers, LeLan Dains says some members of the Hispanic and Latino community face challenges like cultural or language barriers that can be stressful, and this event aims to help them to have better well-being and reduce the stress.
The event will have bilingual activities like a 1-mile hike on the Dale Greiner Nature Trail located next to PAROC, people will also learn about local ecosystems and the importance of open spaces for a healthier life.
Dains says they want to have various versions of the Vamos a Explorar event throughout the year so people can explore different outdoor spaces around Kansas.
