With a little more than a week to go, Emporia’s second annual Anti-Hunger Challenge has nearly reached its fundraising goal.
According to Emporia Rescue Mission Director Lee Alderman, a guest of KVOE’s Talk of Emporia Monday, the Rescue Mission is a little less than $10,000 away from hitting the $60,000 fundraising goal.
The challenge will continue until Sunday, April 30. All proceeds from the challenge go to the Rescue Mission’s general fund according to Alderman.
Alderman says the challenge is a major component to the agency’s bottom line each year as the Rescue Mission is an “extremely low-budget operation.”
Along with his update on the challenge Monday, Alderman also offered updates on the Abundant Harvest Soup Kitchen and Emporia Men’s Shelter saying both are extremely busy at this time.
Those wishing to support the Anti-Hunger Challenge can donate several ways either by mailing donations to PO Box 901 in Emporia, going online to EmporiaMission.org or EmporiaCF.org or by calling Alderman at 620-794 2977.
