A planned project to install underground utilities for a new Lyon County facility has been delayed and may get postponed again.
Lyon County delayed the closure of Prairie Street from South Avenue to Road 160 after moderate rainfall Wednesday night and early Thursday. The County Highway Department says the plan to begin construction Thursday was changed as construction crews didn’t want to open a hole for it to be filled with water almost immediately after excavation.
The plan now is start the process Monday, but there is currently a moderate chance of rain areawide by Monday afternoon, followed by moderate to high chances of rain for most of the week ahead.
The underground utilities project is one of the early related projects to the Highway Department’s new $5.4 million shop complex.
