Missouri Western outscored the Emporia State baseball team 10-1 Friday night.
The Hornets took the early lead on a solo home run by Chandler Bloomer in the 1st inning.
The rest of the night belonged to Western.
They would score 3 runs in the 2nd inning, added 4 more in the 4th inning and scored single runs in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings.
Emporia State would scratch out only 3 hits.
Emporia State Coach Seth Wheeler said it just did not click.
Emporia State remains in 9th place in the MIAA standings. They are 1 game back of 8th place, 2 games back of 7th place, and 2.5 games back of 6th place.
Game two of the series with Missouri Western is Saturday afternoon with the first pitch at 2 pm.
