The Kansas City Royals ended their 8-game losing skid with an 11-8 win over the Los Angeles Angels Saturday.
The Royals scored 5 runs in the top of the 9th to earn the win.
The game was tied at 6 after 6 innings. The Angels took an 8-6 lead in the 8th.
In the 9th Nicky Lopez was hit by a pitch and scored on a Kyle Isbel triple. Isbel scored on an Edward Olivares single. After walks to Salvador Perez and Matt Duffy, M J Melendez was hit by a pitch. Hunter Dozier would single to drive in 2 runs for the final margin of victory.
Hunter Dozier was 3 for 5 with 3 RBI.
M J Melendez was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and Matt Duffy was 3 for 4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored.
Jose Cuas the 4th pitcher used by the Royals was the winning pitcher. Scott Barlow earned the save with a 1-2-3 9th.
The Royals are now 5-16 for the season. The Royals and Angels play again this afternoon with the first pitch set for 3:07. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 2:30 pm.
