Neosho Rapids city government has a candidate seeking re-election.
City Council member Brian Shank filed his paperwork Friday. He’s now the only candidate on the ballot in Neosho Rapids, either for City Council or Mayor.
Currently, the only other city government candidate on the Lyon County ballot is Americus City Council incumbent Nicolette Nuessen.
School boards have seen more candidate traffic so far this cycle. Incumbents Gene Windle, Emily Darbyshire and Charles Steffes, along with newcomer Justin Farr, have all filed for USD 252 Southern Lyon County positions. So has USD 253 Emporia incumbent Jeremy Dorsey.
City Council, mayor and school board positions are part of this election cycle. The filing and withdrawal deadline is at noon June 1. A primary is set for Aug. 1 if enough candidates file.
