Fire destroyed a minivan in eastern Emporia early Sunday.
Emporia Fire Capt. Ben Lienemann says the van apparently crashed into a tree line near Sixth and Whittier around 3:30 am. The driver, currently unnamed, allegedly ran from the scene as the van caught fire. The van was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived a few minutes later and was destroyed.
Further details on law enforcement’s potential involvement in this case are currently pending through Emporia Police.
