The USD 253 Emporia Board of Education has the future of a former school building as one of several items up for conversation when it meets Wednesday.
Board members will resume discussions on the future of the one-time Maynard Early Childhood Center. This follows Simmons Pet Food’s initial plan to buy the building for an all-hours daycare facility, although that plan later fell through, and it also follows district action to work with Coldwell Banker Emporia Real Estate for selling the property at 19 Constitution.
Separately, board members will get an improvement update for Village Elementary. A purchase of staff laptops for the upcoming academic year, a health unsurance update and related fee agreement, policy updates from the Kansas Association of School Boards and two executive sessions — one for an attorney consultation, the other for unspecified negotiations — are also planned.
The meeting starts at 6:30 pm Wednesday at Mary Herbert.
