With the Emporia-Lyon County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission near the end of its lengthy look at proposed zoning regulations, plans are developing for a special public input meeting and an online review process.
The Planning Commission’s current review process began this past August after Emporia city commissioners decided to have an outside law firm conduct its own review, saying an external review from attorney Jim Kaup — three years old at that time — was taking too long. Kaup’s review has been connected to the original set of regulations developed by Urban Collaborative and tweaked by the Planning Commission since then.
The special meeting is at 6 pm May 23 at White Auditorium’s Little Theater. Plans are finalizing for posting the proposed regulations online.
