April 20 has been a big day for marijuana users and law enforcement alike the past few years, and last week saw a significant drug bust in Wabaunsee County.
Sheriff Rob Hoskins says Earl La Sims of Las Vegas was arrested with around 50 pounds of packaged marijuana as part of a traffic stop on Interstate 70. Formal charges are not currently listed on the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal.
Wabaunsee County deputies worked with several agencies across Kansas, as well as the federal Drug Enforcement Agency and Office of Homeland Security, for the special drug enforcement effort. Hoskins says Wabaunsee County deputies collected about 300 pounds of illegal drugs during the department’s three-day enforcement effort.
