The city of Emporia has announced a pair of infrastructure projects are moving forward.
Phase 2 of the Highland Street Improvement Project begins Friday as Highland is closed from 12th to 13th, including the intersection at 13th. The city is reopening 14th at Highland so residents can get to Emporia State from the east.
Between now and mid-August, Highland is getting new pavement and new underground utilities.
Separately, Burlington Northern Santa Fe is closing the crossing at Whildin Street and 12th beginning May 4. Resurfacing should take one to three days to complete.
This follows several crossing closures in and near Emporia for maintenance purposes.
