With major equipment replacements coming, Newman Regional Health has its plan in place for seeking funds from Lyon County — and not just for this year.
Chief Executive Officer Bob Wright says the hospital will ask the county to help fund the replacement of cath lab equipment at an estimated total cost of $1.5 million, followed in future years by the MRI — another $1.5 million price tag — and the CT scanner. Wright admits the funding requests involve expensive equipment, but he says it’s important to have the best equipment on hand for the best level of medical care.
Wright spoke after a joint meeting between hospital administrators and Lyon County leaders. County Commission Chair Rollie Martin says the discussion comes as part of the county’s larger budget season, which is just about underway. And he says there is one major challenge for county leaders:
The county will begin fielding official budget requests during its regular action sessions beginning soon. The county budget has to be set by late August.
