With Lyon County Public Health moving its public messaging from COVID-19 to other health concerns, the county’s official COVID traffic remains low.
Public Health announced two new cases Wednesday, down from six cases announced April 12 and on par with three cases announced April 5. This means 11 cases for the month after 45 cases and two deaths were reported in March.
Lyon County now has over 12,300 cases since the pandemic started in March 2020.
Lyon County is now getting more information out to the public about tick-borne illnesses like Lyme’s disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted fever, babesiosis, anaplasmosis and Powassan virus. It’s also urging residents to watch for rabies after several dog bites in and around Emporia and the unrelated discovery of a rabid skunk in north Lyon County.
