The Emporia High baseball team picked up its first win of the season Friday at Iola, 12-2.
Emporia High jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.
The Spartans added one in the third, three in the fourth on a home run by Owen Ruge, one in the fifth and four in the seventh, which included a home run by Bobby Trujillo.
Trujillo went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs.
Ruge allowed two runs on five hits and had 10 strikeouts while going 2-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs.
Game two was rained out. No make-up date has been announced.
Emporia High is now 1-14 on the season.
Up next for Emporia High is the Spartan Roundball Classic. The Spartans will play Dodge City at 7 p.m. Friday at Soden’s Grove.
