The man accused in an alleged shooting in east Emporia from Thursday is now charged with two counts of attempted murder instead of one.
Assistant Lyon County Attorney Amy Aranda has formally charged 48-year-old Michael Brian Bradley with two counts of attempted first-degree murder for allegedly shooting a gun at Samuel Gardenhire Jr and Jasmine Carmona on Thursday. Both those charges carry alternates of aggravated assault.
Bradley is also charged with single counts of criminal discharge of a firearm, in this case a Taurus .380 handgun, as well as possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
The charges stem from an alleged shooting near Ninth and Whittier late Thursday afternoon. Emporia Police officers say they found evidence of gunshots at that location as well a vehicle believed to have been shot at during the incident. Officers say Gardenhire was shot at but was not hit. The initial news release made no mention of Carmona’s involvement, and details about what led to the alleged shooting are unclear.
A first court appearance is not listed on the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal.
