The 2023 spring burn season has now led to over 700,000 acres of land burned in the KVOE listening area.

Lyon County is third areawide with over 107,000 acres burned.
The April 21 data, posted Friday, also indicates almost 100,000 new acres burned areawide since the April 14 data. All told, nearly 1.1 million acres have been burned across the Flint Hills of Kansas and Oklahoma.
Burn restrictions for the Flint Hills, limiting fire activity to controlled burns, ceremonial fires and grilling, end Sunday as part of the annual Flint Hills Smoke Management Plan. More information about the plan is online at ksfire.org.
