The Emporia High softball team was swept by Topeka High Tuesday at Peter Pan Park.
Topeka High won the first game 15-4 while taking the second game 16-3 in five innings.
In game one, Topeka High led 6-0 before Emporia High got on the scoreboard. Kiana Flores Delgado’s 2-run double made it 6-2 thru four innings. Topeka High responded with two in the fifth before Emporia High got two in the fifth on an RBI single by Kaylee Reimer and Shaylee Ginter scoring on an error. The Trojans then scored seven runs over the next two innings.
Reimer went 2-for-3 at the plate.
In game two, Topeka High scored 12 runs in the first inning and never looked back. Emporia High scored all three of its runs in the first run, all coming on two errors.
Ginter was 2-for-3 at the plate.
Despite two losses, Emporia High coach Annie Rockley says the Lady Spartans are taking a step in the right direction.
Emporia High is now 3-13 on the season and 1-9 in Centennial League play. Up next for the Lady Spartans is the Spartan Classic. Emporia High will play Life Prep at 4:45 p.m. Friday and Kapaun Mt. Carmel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
