The Emporia State softball team fell 11-3 in five innings to Missouri Southern in the opening round of the MIAA Tournament in Topeka Wednesday.
Emporia State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Ari Cordova had an RBI single and Emma Furnish had a 2-run single.
After that, Missouri Southern took control. The Lions scored five runs in the second and six in the third.
Furnish was 1-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs.
Emporia State will play Missouri Western in an elimination game at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Topeka.
