The United Way of the Flint Hills gave the community a few things to to celebrate Wednesday.
The Campaign Celebration at the Bowyer Community Building was the site for the annual fundraising total, announced at $435,189. Nearly 30,000 people across eight counties received help through the United Way and its better than 20 community partners over the last year.
Drive co-chair Lisa Hayes was proud of the total effort, notably work to expand the area’s knowledge of the United Way beyond the fundraising work.

Lifestyle Empowerment for Alzheimer’s Prevention, or LEAP!, was named the United Way Impact Award winner, while KVOE got the Spirit Award. KVOE account executive and United Way board member Michele Boyce:
Speaking of next year’s campaign, the United Way also announced realtor Lynn Cunningham as the 2023-2024 drive chair, signaling a change in schedule for the upcoming campaign and possibly future campaigns. Traditionally, the drive chair has been named in August or September. Cunningham says she’s already planning for the work ahead.
