Osage County deputies say a woman was found dead after a fire near Melvern early Wednesday.
Sheriff Chris Wells says the house fire was reported shortly before 2:45 am in the 2800 block of East 333rd Street. The house was fully involved in flames when authorities arrived. Once the fire was put out, 61-year-old Debbie Booth of Melvern was found dead inside the house.
Numerous agencies responded besides deputies, including Osage County Fire from Melvern, Quenemo and Lyndon, as well as Waverly Fire, Williamsburg Fire, Osage County EMS and the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office. A cause and origination point have not been announced.
