Three days’ worth of cycling is ahead this weekend as La Grind takes place.
Activities start with a shakeout ride at 6 pm Friday, followed by the official race start at 9 am both Saturday and Sunday. Organizer Tom Hayden says stage races like La Grind are still relatively uncommon, at least for the area.
As has been the case for years, all proceeds benefit Handlebars of Hope, which distributes free bikes to people in need in Mexico.
Pre-event packet pickup will be from 3-6 pm Thursday and 3-7 pm Friday, both at High Gear Cyclery at 520 Commercial. For more information, go online to ridelagrind.com. Routes are also on the Ride La Grind Facebook page.
