Three Emporia High teams will be competing as a part of a busy Friday.
The Emporia High baseball and softball teams will be hosting the Spartan Classic at Soden’s Grove and Peter Pan Park.
For the Emporia High baseball team, it’ll be Senior Night when they face Dodge City.
Senior Jalyn King will be one of five seniors honored.
Emporia High will take a 1-14 record into the game that is slated for 7 p.m. The Spartans will wrap up the classic at 2 p.m. Saturday against Maize South.
Other games happening Friday at Soden’s Grove. At 3 p.m. Maize South takes on St. Thomas Aquinas and at 5 p.m. Andover Central takes on Mill Valley.
The Emporia High softball team will be playing Life Prep.

Emporia High and Life Prep will be the second game of the day at Peter Pan Park with a scheduled start time of 4:45 p.m. Other games happening at Peter Pan Park. At 3 p.m., Andover Central will take on Blue Valley Southwest and at 6:30 p.m. Mill Valley takes on Kapaun Mt. Carmel. Emporia High takes a 3-13 record into the game.
The Emporia High boys tennis team will field a full team for the first time this season when it travels to its Class 5A regional in Topeka.
Junior Jacob Simons is the only Spartan that has previously played in a regional tournament.
Simons will be playing No. 1 doubles with Carlos Bautista. Mats Goerres will play at No. 1 singles. Joaquin Miranda will play No. 2 singles. Rylan Crowell and Mark Decker make up the No. 2 doubles team.
The top six finishers at regionals will qualify for state which will be next weekend in Arkansas City.
