Newman Regional Health is officially launching the Denim and Diamonds slate of fundraising activities.
Slots are few for the debut of the Denim and Diamonds Golf Tournament on Friday at the Emporia Golf Course. There will be a shotgun start at 9 am and lunch will be provided.
Events Coordinator Michelle Margeson says local sponsors have also jumped in to support the tournament.
The focus goes from sports to food next week with the 14th annual Denim and Diamonds Kickoff BBQ on Thursday, featuring pulled port sandwiches, sides and a drink for $8. Residents can call ahead to order deliveries, although a minimum of five orders are needed and the event typically sells out several days before it takes place.
Residents interested in being part of the golf tournament or reserving lunch can call Margeson at 620-341-7781.
Meanwhile, the annual cornhole tournament will be June 17. The signature event will be Aug. 4 at Memorial Union Webb Hall. All proceeds go to equipment purchases, in this case a stereotactic mammogram device for the Jones Breast Care Center.
