An equipment malfunction led to an evacuation of the Lyon County Courthouse Thursday morning.
Just before 10 am a fire alarm was triggered leading to the evacuation and a response from the Emporia Fire Department. According to Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage says a compressor malfunctioned on a water fountain located on the ground floor.
Light smoke was visible in the commons area, but no flames developed. Individuals were allowed back into the courthouse a little less than 15 minutes after the evacuation.
