The Emporia High softball team made quick work in its opener of the Spartan Classic at Peter Pan Park Friday afternoon.
Emporia High defeated Life Prep 16-1 in four innings.
The Lady Spartans scored seven runs in second highlighted by a pair of RBI doubles by Yzabel Ultereas and Alivia Anno. Two bases loaded walks made it 4-0 before Kaylee Reimer cleared the bases with a 3-run triple.
Emporia High had a carbon copy inning in the third led by a 3-run home run by Molly Williams.
Addie Kirmer then added an inside-the-park grand slam. She finished the game with a walk-off 2-run inside the park home run in the fourth inning.
Kirmer was 2-for-3 at the plate with seven RBIs. Williams was 2-for-4 with four RBIs.
Coach Annie Rockley says the Lady Spartans put everything they’ve worked on in practice into a game.
Emporia High is now 4-13 on the season. The Lady Spartans wrap up the Spartan Classic at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against Kapaun Mt. Carmel.
