The Emporia Farmers Market began its 41st regular season Saturday with nearly 10 vendors — including a brand-new vendor, Dirt Road Cattle Company of Madison. Operator Amanda Schankie says appearances at farmers markets, both in Emporia this year and elsewhere in years past, will help build on the family business of direct-to-consumer meat deliveries.
Markets now run Saturdays 8-10:30 am through October at the Seventh and Merchant parking lot. Wednesday afternoons go June through September.
