The Emporia High softball team battled with Kapaun Mt. Carmel Saturday afternoon at Peter Pan Park.
After holding a 1-0 lead thru 2 1/2 innings, Kapaun scored 10 consecutive runs and never looked back in a 13-3 victory in six innings over the Lady Spartans.
Addie Kirmer gave Emporia High the 1-0 advantage in the first inning on an RBI double.
The Lady Spartans did not get back on the scoreboard until the fifth inning with a 2-run double by Kaylee Reimer.
Emporia High coach Annie Rockley was still pleased with the effort from the Lady Spartans.
Emporia High is now 4-14 on the season. They’ll host Iola in their final regular season doubleheader on Thursday. These games were postponed from April 29 due to weather.
