Four Emporia State track and field athletes took the medal stands on day two of the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
In the men’s decathlon, Aren Trost was the first on the medal stand taking second in the decathlon with a provisional qualifier of 6,582 points. His second-place finish in the 1,500m with a personal best time of 4:44.87 moved him into second place in the standings.
Trost finished third in the javelin, discus, and pole vault.
Brandon Wilkes finished in fifth with 6,103 He won the discus, was third in the pole vault, and fifth in the javelin and the 1,500m.
In the women’s heptathlon, Victoria Pettay finished ninth with 4,097 points.
Holly Brockmeier finished second in the javelin with a provisional qualifying throw of 142 feet, 11 inches
Alyssa Conway finished second in the hammer throw with a provisional qualifying throw of 191 feet, 6 inches.
Brooks Lowe finished third in the javelin with a provisional qualifying throw of 203 feet, 3 inches.
Megan McManis cleared 12 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault good for seventh.
Asher Moen finished eighth in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Aaron Hunt cleared 14 feet, 9 1/2 inches in the pole vault good for a tie for eighth.
Athletes who qualified for finals for Sunday include Xavier Hall in the 100m hurdles. Jasmine Hurla in the 400m. Chase Rooney, Davion Scott and Brock Merz in the 400m hurdles. Merz’s time in the event was 52.81, which is the fifth-best time in Emporia State history.
Sunday’s events will wrap up the conference championships.
