Several hay bales were damaged by a fire in southeast Lyon County late Saturday afternoon.
Hartford-Neosho Rapids Fire Chief Greg Zumbrunn says the fire at 350 Road X, about seven miles south-southwest of Hartford, and was reported as a structure fire shortly before 4:30 pm. Firefighters found some large hay bales on fire along with a small lean-to.
Ultimately, fire crews doused six large hay bales with a value of $300. Zumbrunn says the lean-to had some fire damage was nit being used. A nearby metal machine shed suffered about $1,000 work of damage, none of which was structural.
No injuries were reported. Hartford-Neosho Rapids, Olpe and Gridley were called to respond. Olpe and Gridley were canceled en route.
