While they may not remember the first time they passed through its doors, Newman Regional Health was happy to welcome back generations of individuals born within its walls Sunday.
The hospital hosted the second annual Baby Alumni Day in the main parking lot. Organizer Ashley Nehls of Newman says they enjoy interacting with and celebrating those who came into the world within the hospital.
Several families, all of whom were “Newman babies,” attended Sunday’s event which left Nehls “speechless.”
Among the alumni in attendance was Gregg Stair alongside his 95-year-old father Donald who as born in the hospital in 1927. Gregg Stair says the alumni day is an event you don’t see elsewhere.
Donald Stair says it was a nice moment to share with his son.
Along with enjoying one another’s company residents in attendance were also able to enjoy lawn games and prize drawings. According to NewmanRH.org, more than 40,000 children have been welcomed into the world inside of the hospital since it opened its doors in 1922.
