A Marion man was hospitalized after a semi struck a car in Chase County Sunday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just after 8:40 am when a 2014 Chevy Equinox, driven by 84-year-old Betty Lou Johnson of Marion was traveling eastbound in the construction zone at US Highway 50 mile marker 327 in Strong City. Johnson made a lefthand turn across the eastbound lane of traffic and was struck on the driver’s side by a semi driven by 62-year-old Darin J Brauer of Springfield, Illinois.
Betty Lou Johnson and Brauer suffered no apparent injury, however, a passenger in the Equinox, 84-year-old Dale Johnson Jr of Marion was taken to the Newman Regional Health with possible injuries. Dale Johnson and Brauer were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
It was not listed if Betty Lou Johnson was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
