Alex Conley continues his recovery from a nearly-fatal crash near Emporia over two years ago, and the Americus area demonstrated its support for him with a fundraising cornhole tournament now into its third year.
Conley was a passenger in a car that crashed in the 1900 block of Road J in December 2021. The crash ejected Conley, paralyzing him from the neck down, but he says he gets through day by day — and both he and his family are grateful for the now-longstanding support.
Conley’s sister, Lacy Cowdin, says the family has adjusted as Conley’s continues to recover.
Harry & Lloyd’s was the site of the tournament, as well as an auction and raffle. Totals are pending.
Recently, Conley had a stem cell infusion to help the recovery process. He also gets IV treatments twice daily.
