The Emporia High boys golf team finished second in its home invitational Monday at Emporia Golf Course.
Emporia High shot a 330 finishing behind Washburn Rural who shot a 303.
Four Spartans placed in the top 20. Nolan Jacob was the top Spartan. He finished ninth with an 81.
Brayden Bowen finished in a tie for 10th with an 82.
Coach Rick Eckert says both Jacob and Bowen stepped up without Caden Massey in the lineup.
Hudson Sauder finished in a tie for 15th with an 83.
Will Walker finished in a tie for 17th with an 84.
Eckert says there’s still some time for improvement with the postseason around the corner.
Up next for Emporia High is regionals. The Spartans will be in the Seaman regional at Lake Shawnee next Monday.
