One person has been arrested after two reported chases near Emporia on Tuesday morning.
Kansas Highway Patrol Lt. Dave Hundley says the first chase apparently started on Interstate 35 just east of Emporia after a report of a potentially stolen car and moved north at a high rate of speed. Troopers and Lyon County deputies briefly lost contact with the car but caught sight of it again on the Kansas Turnpike near Emporia and chased it north to mile marker 142, 15 miles northeast of Emporia and five miles south of the Admire-Council Grove interchange.
Hundley says speeds reached close to 120 mph during the incident. Hundley also says the suspect is a juvenile, so his name will not be announced. Further details are pending.
