A Lyon County inmate briefly escaped custody Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.
Lyon County Deputy Benjamin Folks says Hannah Wilson was being taken from Newman Regional Health back to the Lyon County Jail after routine medical screening. Just before going into the jail, Wilson allegedly got one hand out of her cuffs, escaped and fled on foot westbound on Fifth.
Authorities found Wilson hiding in a shed in the 400 block of Constitution a few minutes later.
The alleged escape followed Wilson’s first appearance in Lyon County District Court on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault, interference with law enforcement and criminal trespass after an alleged incident Sunday. Wilson already has a preliminary hearing May 31 in that case. Additional charges related to the alleged escape are pending, but Lyon County Sgt. Zach Shafer says deputies are requesting charges including aggravated escape from custody, aggravated battery of a corrections officer, felony interference with law enforcement, deprivation of property and criminal damage.
