Though activities have been underway for about a week now, Newman Regional Health had its official kickoff fundraiser for Denim and Diamonds Thursday afternoon.
The parking lot of Newman once again turned into a drive-thru for the annual BBQ kickoff event and as at has been for the past several years, Thursday’s event was once again a sellout. Newman Events Coordinator Michelle Margeson says they can always count on the Emporia community to show its support.
Margeson says Thursday was a great way to launch into the large list of upcoming D&D fundraising events over the next month.
In addition to many of the classic D&D fundraisers, Margeson says residents can look forward to more new additions, including a special talent contest.
The signature Denim and Diamonds event will be Aug. 4 inside of the Memorial Union’s Webb Hall.
All proceeds go to equipment purchases, in this case a stereotactic mammogram device for the Jones Breast Care Center. For more information about Denim and Diamonds activities, go online to newmanrh.org/dd.
