Council Grove Police officers have made three separate arrests on suspected drug distribution activity over the past week.
Police Chief Shawn Wangerin says the first arrest happened shortly after 10:30 pm May 4 after a traffic stop in the 10 block of East Main. Annamarie Cuup of Herington was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possessing paraphernalia, felony interference with law enforcement and trafficking contraband into a correctional facility. Formal charges are pending.
Shortly before 9 pm May 5, officers did a traffic stop in the 10 block of West Main, arresting Cleo Sharr of Council Grove on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia after a positive alert from Morris County K-9 Kimber. Sharr has been charged with distributing up to 100 grams of meth within 1,000 feet of Council Grove Junior/Senior High and possession of paraphernalia.
Shortly before 1:30 am May 6, officers and Morris County deputies conducted a search warrant at 306 Hays in Council Grove. Thomas Bingham II of Council Grove was arrested on suspicion of possessing meth with intent to distribute, possessing a hallucinogenic, possessing paraphernalia and unlawful use of a weapon. Official charges are pending.
Wangerin has not said whether these cases are related in any way.
