The Emporia High baseball team was swept by Life Prep in its final regular season doubleheader in Wichita Thursday.
Life Prep won the first game in walk-off fashion 4-3 and took the second game 6-3.
In game one, Life Prep led 3-0 after six innings before Emporia High tied the game at 3 in the seventh.
Bobby Trujillo’s 2-run double cut the deficit to one and he eventually scored on an error.
Drew Hess went 2-for-3 at the plate.
In game two, Life Prep led 1-0 after one inning. Emporia High took a 2-1 lead in the second on an RBI single by Trujillo and an RBI groundout by Chase Harrington. A
After that, Life Prep scored five runs over the next two innings and never looked back.
The Spartans got their final run in the fifth with Harrington scoring on an error.
Hess and Trujillo each went 1-for-3 at the plate.
Emporia High finishes the regular season at 2-17.
Emporia High will find out if it makes a regional on Saturday. The Spartans were sitting in 17th in the 5A west standings entering Thursday’s play. The top 16 teams qualify for the postseason.
