Commencement is at hand for Emporia State University.
ESU will have its graduate activities Friday evening, followed by a split undergraduate schedule for the undergraduate activities Saturday. On KVOE’s ESU Buzz on Thursday, Registrar Sheila Markowitz said it’s a big time for students, family and university faculty and staff.
Dean of the Graduate School and Distance Education Jerald Spotswood says students walking the stage this weekend have adapted through COVID-19-related adjustments and the first year of a reinvestment process on campus.
Graduate and postgraduate students will be honored at 6 pm Friday. Undergraduate students in Liberal Arts and Sciences, specifically those receiving degrees in arts, fine arts, interdisciplinary studies, music, nursing or science will be honored at 9:30 am Saturday. Undergraduate students in Business receiving degrees in arts, science or science in business will be honored at 2 pm Saturday.
Doors at White Auditorium will open at 4:30 pm Friday, 8 am Saturday and 1 pm Saturday for the different ceremonies. Regent Blake Benson will be the featured speaker at all three sets of ceremonies. Over 1,000 students are eligible for degrees this weekend.
