A man accused in Lyon County of rape and other counts now has potential trial dates on the docket.
At the end of a motions hearing Wednesday, Jovani Sotelo was set for potential trial start dates of June 12, July 17 or July 24. There will be a status hearing June 7.
Sotelo is charged with two counts of rape and one of aggravated criminal sodomy after an alleged incident in January.
Separately from Wednesday, David Lee Brown may now have trial in August, not next week, after his status hearing. Prosecutors have amended the charge list against Brown, but he is still charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated battery after an alleged incident in late February. Trial now could start Aug. 14.
A preliminary hearing in a Lyon County drug distribution case has been delayed. Agustin Vargas requested a new hearing date so he can apply for an appointed attorney. The next hearing is now June 5 for Vargas, who is accused of distributing up to 450 grams of marijuana, possessing paraphernalia and hosting minors consuming alcohol after an alleged incident last month.
And a preliminary hearing for a man accused of trafficking contraband into the Lyon County Jail earlier this year has been rescheduled.
The hearing for Norwin Alexis Matey-Matey was reset to May 31 after Judge Laura Miser appointed Leah Cerretti to represent Matey-Matey, who is charged with trafficking cocaine into the Lyon County Jail, possession of cocaine and traffic violations after an alleged incident in late March.
